2023 Sport for Life Sports Week/Family Camp - Sweden

WHEN
Jul 8 2023 - Jul 16 2023
WHERE
Halmstad, SE
COST
$3,200.00

We're so excited we're sending a Southeast team of 12 back to Family Camp in Halmstad, Sweden to serve with Sport for Life (SFL).  2019 was the last time we were able to send a trip as Louisville FCA sent a women's team to serve (see video).  Are you between the age of 18 and 75, ready to be highly active with kids, and interact intergenerationally with their families?  Are you able to instruct at sports and build relationships?  (If you have golf skills that's a plus.) In Sweden, entire families come to Halmstad camp in their RV's.

While the kids engage in sports, there is also opportunity to involve adults in sports and engage in conversation too as they watch their kids, or in the evenings at the nightly meeting, where we have games, skits, etc. to promote fellowship and friendship building.  That is followed by worship, devotions and some of us sharing our testimonies.

Sweden is a country where only about 2% of the population profess a relationship with Christ.  Did you know that over 70% of all Swedes aged 16-80 years exercise regularly? Over 80% of all children and young people (6-18 years) are or have been part of a sports club. Over 50% of these quit before they turn 15. Most quit, not because they think sports are too boring, but because they feel that they are too bad at sports, have been poked fun at, or that it has become too serious with only the best continue with a sport.  But, sports is a universal language, a perfect tool for working with integration and community across ethnic, socio-economic and religious boundaries.

We'd like our SECC team come and help these sports camp families see what SFL is doing and how they can connect to God and sports.  This trip is a win if at the end, our Swedish camp participants have had a great week as a family, and they have taken steps in their faith and sports. The goal is for people to understand it is possible to be a Christian and an athlete. With only 12 open spots, this trip will fill quickly so apply soon!

Please note:

  • All trip participants must be an active Southeast member or attendee for at least 6 months with verifiable attendance/participation.
  • *Daily basic travel insurance is included in your trip costs.  However, for those 70 and above, the accidental death benefit is reduced and there is no disability benefit.  Please contact the Missions Ministry at 502-253-8160 if you have any questions.
