Right Start: Work on Reading Skills with Refugee and Immigrant Children

WHEN
Open Enrollment

Right Start is a classroom-based tutoring program where refugee children can come to one of our Welcome Centers and learn foundational skills to help them thrive in school. The primary focus of the program is to develop strong reading skills but attention is also given to other subjects such as number fluency. Tutors work with children in small groups and reinforce these skills through reading aloud together, game play, and small group activities. Most importantly, these centers serve as a place for children to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ through gospel-centered curriculum and Christian adult interaction. The program is designed for children from Kindergarten to 5th grade.

Never tutored before? No worries. We'll provide you with helpful tools as you teach and pair you with a co-teacher so you don't have to serve alone. In addition, Right Start's coordinator is ready to assist you as the need arises.
