Shawnee Christian Healthcare Center (SCHC) is a 501(c)3 Federally Qualified Health Center located in the Shawnee Neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky. SCHC seeks to transform community health by sharing the love of Christ in word and deed, to facilitate community development and holistic healthcare through the empowerment of the residents in the community.

Opportunity Summary
The Registered Nurse will provide professional nursing care for clinic patients while following established standards and practices. 

Opportunity Responsibilities 

• Performs general nursing care to patients.  Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards
• Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment, examination and testing of patients
• Observes, records and reports patient’s condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physician
• Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination.  Screens patients for appropriate information.  Instruct patients in collection of samples and tests
• Responds to and triages incoming telephone calls
• Instructs patients and families regarding medications and treatment instructions
• Maintains and reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information.  Posts tests and examination results
• Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials.  Ensures cleanliness.  Prepares a list of medical supplies needed
• Attends required meetings and participates in committees, as requested
• Maintains patient confidentiality
• Strong alignment with SCHC Mission and demonstrates behaviors aligned with SCHC Statement of Faith and Core Values
• Other duties as necessary to ensure successful attainment of SCHC goals and objectives

Opportunity Requirements 

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current State of Kentucky Registered Nurse license
• Current CPR or BLS certification
• One year of professional nursing experience, preferably in a clinic setting
• Knowledge of professional theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care
• Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
• Skill in applying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide on-going patient care
• Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook
• Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions
• Skill in preparing and maintaining records and writing reports
• Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public
• Ability to react calmly in emergency situations
• Ability to interpret and apply guidelines and procedures
• Ability to communicate clearly
• Self-motivated with strong organizational and interpersonal skills
