Sometimes it’s easy to stereotype mission trips—medical clinics, Vacation Bible School, helping a mission organization with tasks such as painting, cleaning, teaching, discipling. While all those may happen, many trips are meeting needs in different ways. The goal of every trip from Southeast Christian Church is to meet needs that will last long after the mission trip ends, to empower local churches and give tools to expand ministry in their own community.

This October, a team of married couples & family volunteers from SECC will travel to Jamaica to partner with Joseph and Alice Mulaa, who run a family-equipping ministry. Their mission is to train local church leaders to handle life issues not so different from those we face in the United States: addiction, domestic violence, marriage and family issues, anxiety and depression.  Addressing those issues is difficult in the United States and that is also true in Jamaica.

The goal of the volunteers heading to Jamaica is bigger than anything they can do without God’s help—change Jamaica one family at a time.  If people can see Biblical solutions to issues, family life can change. If family life changes, so will church and neighborhood life.

Restrictions:

1) Trip members must be adult members of Southeast Christian church or have verified attended for at least 6 months.  Youth over age 12 applying must have a parent applying and both must actively participate on all aspects of the trip.
